Staff picks for a long, dark November
Five books the booksellers have been pressing on friends: a drowned orchard, nine neighbors, a ferry, a bird guide and a very large dog.
The clocks changed last weekend and we have thoughts about it. Here’s what we’re reading.
From the front table
Nell can’t stop talking about Marguerite Aldous’s The Orchard Under the Lake, and Theo says Nine Lamps on Packard Street is the funniest sad book of the year. Walt keeps recommending What the Ferry Carried to anyone who walks past, and Marisol’s pick is Bartholomew Counts the Stars, which has now been read aloud eleven times at the shop alone.
The full list is on our Staff picks page. Everything is in the online shop too.
